Michael Lo Monaco was born in Catania in 1988.
After attending high school, he travelled to Europe and America for two years. He graduated in Economics and Management of Tourist Enterprises, yet he decided to cultivate his lifelong passion for Photography.
Within the past decade, he collaborated with Letizia Battaglia for the realization of the second edition of Imbavagliati, Festival del fotogiornalismo at Naples’ Palazzo delle Arti (2016).
He published his first book in 2017, titled ’50/’70 Photography and Architecture. The project is mainly nourished by his attendance to a tutorship course: Photography of Architecture and Interiors, held by Spazio Labò (Bologna), following an exhibition of his work at the Art Gallery 37 (Turin). The gallery represents a key experience to every artist’s development, in fact, it represents a place where modern and contemporary art is enhanced and supported.
Later, he exhibited his work at the International Photography Center and at Palazzo Notarbartolo (Palermo). More exhibitions are displayed in Catania, Messina, Turin, Milan (Atelier Zona Blu, Triennale).
In 2018 Michael Lo Monaco won the competition Platform, Best Italian Interior Design Selection, held at the Triennale di Milano.
In 2020 he decided to co-found the cultural art association Zona Blu (Milan).
His most recent work is dedicated to industries such as retail, fashion, architectural and interior design; whilst he has always pursued his personal visual projects, characterised by both introspection and life contemplation.
